JOTUNHEIMR EISENBOCK
Brewery: Pollyanna Brewing Company
Location: 431 Talcott Ave., Lemont, IL. 60439
Style: Eisenbock ABV: 10%
Review: Color perfect ruby brown with a beige head. The Nose in toasty bread and slightly sweet raisin like nose. Front end taste is toasty bread with raisin, smooth creamy mouthfeel with mild carbonation. Mid beer the toasted bread maltiness and sweetness intensify but are balanced nicely with the alcohol’s mild heat which lingers on the tongue. The balance of all the elements of toasted malt, slight sweetness, with a dry alcohol finish come together created an complex beer. The is a world class Eisenbock!

Style: Doppelbock ABV: 8%
Review: Deep Brown Ruby color, off white head, high carbonation but head recedes due to alcohol level. Nose is a strong malt with hints of toasted bread or biscuit. Rich malt flavor with mild sweetness, medium body and finishes clean and crisp.Mid beer the sweet toasted bread like malts increase, yet it is not heavy and still finishes crisp and clean. By back end the warmth of a higher ABV kicks in giving it a nice glow without being hot. Excellent Doppelbock

SPECTATOR DOPPELBOCK
Brewery: On Tour Brewing Company
Location: 1725 W. Hubbard St., Chicago, IL. 60622
Style: Doppelbock ABV: 8.5 %
Review: Ruby brown color, light beige head, with a mild malt nose. Nice bready malt front end with crisp and surprisingly light mouthfeel. No noticeable hop presence and the mild bready malt flavor sustains through the whole beer. For the high ABV seems surprisingly mild front to back. This is a very drinkable Doppelbock and a good representation of the style.

ERADICATOR DOPPELBOCK
Brewery: Will County Brewery
Location: 1142 W Jefferson St., Shorewood, IL. 60404
Style: Doppelbock ABV: 8 %
Review: Color is Ruby Brown with off white to beige head. Nose is malty with background sweetness. Highly carbonated with a nice blend of maltiness with stone fruit background. Light mouthfeel with a crisp finish. The beer maintains a nice drinkability from beginning to end. Though it does not attain that deeper biscuit or toasted bread malt flavor expected from a Dopplebock it is still a good beer.

GERMAN STYLE DOPPELBOCK
Brewery: Hailstorm Brewing Co
Location: 8060 186th St., Tinley Park, IL. 60487
Style: Doppelbock ABV: 8%
Review: Brown color with medium size beige head, carbonation is medium to low and head recedes due to ABV level. Nose is sweet with a slight caramel background. Mild sweet malt, with background floral flavor and mild hop bite. Mid beer the malty caramel sweetness begins to assert itself with a balance from floral ester and some hop. Finishes with mild maple caramel taste which lingers on the tongue. Despite hop flavor and background esters this is a good effort at a Doppelbock.
